French Foliage Collection

French Foliage Collection
Whilst browsing the internet for inspiration, I came across some designs on Splitcoaststampers featuring different techniques.  I decided to give it a try and these are the results.  All cards features use the following materials:

Cardstock: Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler
Ink Pads: Cherry Cobbler, Calypso Coral, Old Olive, Lucky Limeade and Soft Suede.

Stamps: French Foliage, En Francais, Faith in Nature, Tiny Tags

Accessories: Antique Brads, Linen Thread, Victoria Crochet Trim and Chocolate Chip Spotted Scallop Ribbon

Tools: Colour Spritzer, Jewellery Tag

Cracked Glass

This card is made using the cracked glass technique.  The background was created by sponging randomly with various ink colours, overstamped with the splats stamp from French Foliage and then spritzed with Always Artichoke ink.  Versamark was applied over the entire image and clear embossing powder applied and then heated.  This process is repeated at least 4 times until you have a nice glossy image.  The piece is then put in the freezer for about a minute, removed and then you can gently crack the image by bending it gently in various directions

Autumn Leaves
The background on this card was created using the mixture of Stamps in French Foliage and various ink colours until the desired effect was achieved.  The background was mounted on Cherry Cobbler and then always artichoke cardstock.  Victoria Crochet Trim was adhered to the left hand side and pulled in by tying Linen Thread around and secured with a double knot.  The Leaves were stamped on very vanilla and then cut out, aged by sponging with Soft Suede ink and adhered using Dimensionals.

Resist Technique
This card features the resist technique.  The leaves were stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  This was then overstamped by En Francais and Soft Suede ink.  The background was then sponged in various colours the achieve the desired effect.  The background was then mounted and Linen Thread was tied around the bottom.  The single leaf was created with the same technique, sponged and then cut out, a simple sentiment was added using the Tiny Tags stamps and punched out with the Jewellery Tag Punch.

What I like about this technique is that no two cards would ever be the same and it is only by experimenting that you can find out what works and what doesn't.

Thank You card

This card was made using a variety of the techniques featured above, the background was stamped in Soft Suede ink which had been stamped off the page first and then on the background.  This was then overstamped with the splats from French Foliage and sponged to achieve the desired effect.

Butterflies and Scallops

These are the cards I desinged for my class held on Saturday 28th May based on the wonderful inspiration I get from looking at Jenny Moors blog Stamping Moments.

We made four cards using the new dies and embossing folders featured in the new Mini Catalogue.  All the cards used Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White cardstock and matching inks.

Butterflies and Scallops

For this card, I stamped the En Francais stamp in Craft ink on Pear Pizzazz cardstock to form the background paper.  The scalloped circle was embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and the sentiment is from the Fresh Cuts stamp set which was punched using the oval and scalloped oval punches.

Beautiful Wings

This card uses the Scalloped Circle as the card blank.  The Whisper White circle was embossed using the Square Lattice embossing folder and the ribbon is the new Pear Pizzazz Seam binding ribbon which was gathered by gently pulling the middle threads.  The small butterflies are created using the new Beautiful Wings Embosslits Folder and finished with adhesive pearls.

Top Note Easel Card

This card uses the new Top Note die as the base and is created to form an Easel card.  The papers are from the Springtime Vintage range featured in the new mini Catalogue.  Again the inside of the card is stamped with craft ink and the En Francais stamp and is finished off with one of the large Beautiful Wings butterflies and an adhesive gem int he centre.

Springtime butterfly

This card again features the Scalloped circle die used as the card blank, the black circle has been embossed using the Vintage wallpaper embossing folder and the ribbon is Certainly Celery Taffeta ribbon.

Thank you for looking at my cards, I hope you are inspired to try them for yourself but if you would like to purchase any of the materials used in these cards or would like to attend my future classes, please contact me at di.purves@tinyworld.co.uk for more information.

Tartan Stampers Mini Catalogue Blog Hop

The Tartan Stampers Team have been busy again creating some lovely projects featured in the new Mini Catalogue which is launched today.

Thank you for joining me from Carolyn's Blog, you will have seen some lovely projects there.

Somef the exciting new products featured in the mini catalogue are the Big Shot, dies and embossing folders, many of which are exclusive to Stampin' Up!  I have had great fun experimenting with the new folders and my brayer.

Elegant Bouquet
This card was made by using the brayer to ink up the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder.with Baja Breeze ink and placing very vanilla cardstock into the folder.  I then embossed it using the Big Shot.  The ink is not transferred onto the raised areas and creates a stunning effect.  The ribbon is the new Crumb Cake Seam binding ribbon.

Daisies and Dots embossing folder
This card features the new Flower Daisies #2 Bigz die and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The colours used are concord crush, pear pizzazz, poppy parade and peach parfait which are some of the new 'In Colours' which were launched in the new Idea book.  The centres of the flowers are Champagne glass glitter which is more chunky in appearance than Dazzling Diamonds and adds lovely texture to the project.

Daisies Easel Card
This next card features the larger Daisies layered to create a large flower and the Swirls and Scribbles Sizzlits Die.  The dotted background was created by inking up the Perfect Polka dots with Pear Pizzazz ink and embossing onto white cardstock.  It gives a lovely subtle background.

Manhattan Flowers
This card features the Manhattan Flowers embossing folder which has been created by inking up the folder again with Pear Pizzazz ink onto white cardstock.  The result is a lovely crisp image and looks very elegant.  Sometimes the image may not be as crisp and you may find that you need to use a shim (extra sheets of paper) along with the cutting plates in the Big Shot.  The card was mounted on Pear Pizzazz cardstock and the ribbon is Certainly Celery.  The roses on this card were favourites of my lovely mum, who we sadly lost to leukaemia on 31st January 2011.

Strength and Hope

My next projects feature a very special stamp set - Strength and Hope.  Stampin' Up! will donate £1 from every stamp set purchased to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  BCRF is dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide.

Strength and Hope
All these cards feature the Strength and Hope stamp set.  I have also used Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Concorde Crush ink and cardstock.

Butterflies
This card features Basic Grey, Concorde Crush, Pretty in Pink and Crumb Cake cardstock.  The image is stamped using Whisper White ink and I have added adhesive pears to highlight areas.  The paper is from the Always Elegant Designer Paper series.

Hope
This card features 3 of the stamps in the set and the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The inclusion of the embossing folders in the mini catalogue can only enhance your crafting projects and creates added texture and depth to your projects.  I think the butterflies in this set will become a firm favourite and will prove to be very versatile.

Pretty in Pink
This card is fairly simple but quite striking.  The image and text are stamped in Concorde Crush and the ribbon is 1/2" (1.3 cm) Stitched-Poly Ribbon in Blushing Bride.

Pleated Ribbon
This card features three of the stamps again.  The images are stamped in CrumbCake and Soft Suede.  I pleated the Seam Binding tape to create an added dimension to the card and used the Scallop Trim border punch along the side edge of the card.  I added a Very Vanilla insert to show off the punched edge.

I hope you like the projects I have created.  If you would like any more information or to purchase any of the items featured, please get in touch with me and I will assist where I can.
